Making Health and Safety Reporting Faster, Smarter and Measurable

The Challenge

Modernising health and safety reporting across construction sites.

Construction sites are busy, fast-moving environments where health and safety observations need to be recorded quickly and acted upon. Wates wanted to replace a paper-based reporting process with a digital solution that made it easier for site teams to submit observations while giving operational managers greater visibility of trends, risks and good practice across the business.

Delivering that vision required more than simply creating a mobile app. The platform needed to work reliably in demanding site conditions, support users with varying levels of digital confidence, and provide the flexibility to evolve alongside changing operational requirements.

Our Approach

Combining intuitive design with resilient technical delivery.

Working closely with our long-standing design partner, Zaang, Psycle helped transform the Stop/Go concept into a robust production platform. While Zaang created the user experience and interface design, Psycle focused on the technical implementation, delivering a reliable application and establishing the foundations for its continued evolution.

From the outset, the platform was designed around the realities of construction sites. Fast reporting, offline capability, simple workflows and centralised data collection ensured the system was practical for people on site, while providing management with meaningful operational insight.

The Solution

A continually evolving digital safety platform.

Psycle delivered a resilient mobile and web platform that enables health and safety observations to be recorded, managed and analysed across Wates construction sites. Users can quickly submit positive observations or potential hazards, attach photographs and supporting information, and continue working even where network connectivity is limited.

Beyond the mobile application, Psycle developed and enhanced the supporting management platform, reporting capabilities and integrations, providing operational teams with greater visibility of trends, workflows and safety performance.

As operational requirements evolved, the platform continued to evolve, with ongoing enhancements, modernisation, hosting and migration to AWS ensuring the solution remained secure, scalable and fit for the future.

The Outcome

A trusted platform supporting safer construction sites.

Replacing paper-based reporting with a digital safety platform used across more than 1,270 construction sites.

More than 60% of safety observations are now submitted through the mobile application, giving operational teams richer data and greater visibility across the business.

A resilient platform designed to evolve alongside changing operational requirements.

KEY RESULTS

  • Ongoing development of the mobile application and reporting dashboard
  • Secure AWS hosting and ongoing platform modernisation
  • Supporting safer, data-driven operational decision-making
  • Long-term technical partner supporting Wates' health and safety operations
