The Challenge
Removing connectivity as a barrier to learning.
Teachers across Africa and India needed access to high-quality professional development, often in environments where reliable internet access, modern devices and supporting infrastructure could not be guaranteed.
The challenge extended beyond creating a digital platform. Educational resources needed to be easy to discover, accessible across multiple countries and languages, and available both online and offline to ensure teachers could learn wherever they were.
Our Approach
Designing learning around people, not technology.
Working closely with The Open University over many years, we focused on the needs of educators rather than the limitations of technology.
Every decision centred on making learning materials easier to find, easier to use and accessible regardless of connectivity. By combining intuitive digital experiences with innovative offline delivery, we created flexible platforms capable of supporting diverse educational programmes and evolving over the long term.
The Solution
Building learning platforms without connectivity barriers.
Psycle designed, developed and supported the digital platforms behind the TESSA and TESS-India programmes, creating responsive learning environments that made educational resources available across multiple countries and devices.
Alongside the online platforms, we developed innovative offline solutions, including Raspberry Pi-powered local resource hubs, enabling teachers to access learning materials without requiring an internet connection. The platforms continued to evolve over many years, supporting multilingual content, resource discovery and the ongoing delivery of teacher education.
